skin to skin

one of my favorite things that brent does w/ elliot is declare "skin to skin" time. we learned about this at the hospital during my recovery time. both the big man and the little man take their shirts off and....commence bonding. i love it.

our funny little man

we took this video while we were still in the hospital. so sweet. our little man makes the funniest faces. sometimes they're so funny i have to remind myself that he's not doing it to entertain us. =)

my parents just left yesterday morning. sad. it's funny how our little man can increase the joy of our family of 3 so much and yet make it so much more difficult when my parents leave.

they did SO much to help while they were here--everything from cleaning out the frig to helping to put in the car seat to organizing cupboards and getting the baby's room ready. i think the most meaningful thing they did though during their visit here was just help me transition into momhood. when elliot's cry seemed a little bit louder than it had been before, my mom was there to tell me that he probably just had a tummy ache. when he was more agitated in the afternoon, she was there to tell me that it's not unusual for babies to fuss at that time of day. my dad serenaded elliot and, mysteriously, he would stop crying. i'm not sure how i would have done it without them. i feel like they prepared me to be a better mom for our son and a better wife for brent. thanks, guys. i love you.

just when you think i can't get any bigger....

for fun, i snapped a fast picture of myself yesterday morning before heading off to church (about 3 days after his due date). things are getting a bit more....uncomfortable, as you might imagine. i have more intense lower back pain these days. i'm totally fine when sitting, but walking around can hurt.
regardless, TOMORROW it comes to an end, and we will have the privilege of meeting our little man. we can hardly believe it. brent did a beautiful job w/ a few of the last finishing touches in the nursery. i'll try and post pictures of that sometime....but until then, you can know that we have a vinyl adhesive above the crib with zephaniah 3:17 on it. brent picked it out. it's beautiful, and it definitely goes w/ the nursery's little rock star theme. =)
hope to post real life pictures of our little boy soon. thanks to those of you who will be praying for and thinking about us during the procedure tomorrow at 11:30. we love you!!
